This bolo was created from an old wooden buoy that washed ashore in Hawaii. The larger buoy shown alongside the piece is the original source material.
The surface retains the buoy’s original painted exterior, where years of ocean exposure created intricate swirls, wear patterns, and layered color. Those details were intentionally preserved rather than erased, allowing the history of the object to remain visible.
The reverse side features a woodburned Driftstone logo. The piece was shaped, sealed, and polished by hand to stabilize the wood and bring clarity to the remaining paint without over-refining it.
It is set as a bolo centerpiece and paired with a black braided cord.
